
Gary has more than 10 years of experience as an intellectual property practitioner and was formerly a registered foreign lawyer with a leading international law firm in Singapore.
He specialises in Intellectual Property ("IP"), and has represented and advised local and multinational clients on both contentious and non-contentious IP matters, including trade mark, copyright, patent, domain name, design protection, and trade secrets.
Building on his experience in IP portfolio management at his previous firm, Gary develops and implements global IP protection and branding strategies, including trade mark selection & branding, and trade mark prosecution.
He collaborates closely with the Intellectual Property Rights Branch of the Singapore Police Force and Singapore Customs on IP infringement cases and goods seizures. He has extensive experience planning and executing anti-counterfeiting operations for IP rights holders in Singapore and across the Asia-Pacific region.
Gary is also very familiar with commercial contract structures and has a wide range of experience in negotiating, drafting and preparing non-disclosure, licensing, service, franchising, settlement, purchase and distribution agreements.
Besides having broad experience in cross-border mergers and acquisitions with respect to IP and healthcare deals, he regularly advised clients on regulatory compliance in respect of general consumer goods, medical devices, food products, and cosmetics. He has significant experience dealing with government agencies such as the Consumer Product Safety Office, Singapore Food Agency, Health Sciences Authority and National Environment Agency.
Furthermore, Gary is a seasoned speaker and conducts regular trainings and workshops for clients and various organisations, enhancing their legal awareness, understanding and compliance.

Managed the global trade mark, design and patent portfolios of foreign and local multinational clients, including some of the world's most well-known brands from a diverse range of industries.

Planned and executed simultaneous anti-counterfeiting raids on multiple locations in Singapore, resulting in the seizure of more than 20,000 counterfeit goods.

Advised various clients on commercialization of IP, including negotiating and drafting agreements relating to the use or sale of IP, license agreements, assignments, franchising and distribution agreements.

Advised and drafted the Terms of Use and Privacy Policies for the first locally produced Electric Vehicle in Singapore and its accompanying mobile software applications and In-Vehicle infotainment system.
